Trauma & EMDR Therapy
Trauma-Specific therapy in
West Los Angeles and virtually throughout CAlifornia to assist in unwinding the past for a clearer, lighter future.
Trauma can change the way you view everything: yourself, your relationships and even the world around you. You might often feel on edge, disconnected or unsure who you can trust. Even in safe situations, your body might still react thought you’re in danger. It’s exhausting to always be in survival mode, questioning your worth or waiting for something to go wrong. Whether the traumatic event was recent or happened long ago, its effects can linger for years.
Therapy offers a space to gently explore what you've been through and start to feel safe again, not just in your surroundings, but in your own mind and body. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to go through it alone.
In my West LA practice, I specialize in working with individuals who are ready to process trauma safely and effectively using EMDR therapy, a powerful, evidence-based approach designed to help you finally feel relief.
What Does Trauma Look Like?
Trauma doesn’t always come from one big event. It can build slowly over time through experiences like:
Childhood emotional neglect or inconsistent caregiving
Growing up in a high-pressure or chaotic household
Medical trauma, bullying, or identity-based discrimination
Breakups, loss, or feeling rejected by people you needed
Experiencing betrayal, abuse, or emotional manipulation
You might find yourself thinking, “It wasn’t that bad. Other people have had it worse,” but still feel stuck, anxious, numb or on edge. Trauma is about how your nervous system responded—and EMDR is one way to help reset that response.
"What is traumatic for one person may not be traumatic for another. It's not the event itself that determines whether something is traumatic, but how it is experienced and processed by the individual."
- Francine Shapiro
Signs You May Be living with
Unresolved Trauma
You feel triggered by certain situations or people but don’t always know why
You replay memories, conversations, or moments over and over
You feel anxious, shut down, or hyper-aware in relationships
You avoid people, places, or emotions that remind you of something painful
You’re tired of living in survival mode and just want to feel normal again
What Is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapeutic modelthat helps the brain reprocess stuck or distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming. It doesn’t require you to talk in detail about what happened, making it especially helpful for people who find traditional talk therapy exhausting or re-traumatizing. If you’ve found that traditional talk therapy is not enough, EMDR can be the next step.
EMDR can help you to:
Reduce the emotional intensity of painful memories
Let go of shame, self-blame and fear
Feel safer and more at ease in your body and relationships
Build confidence, resilience and trust in yourself again
